COACH MIKE BEARDEN

Where are you from?
Coronado

What age and where did you start playing lacrosse?
13 at Coronado in 1987

What is your best playing moment?
Scoring goals was fun but, playing with my friends back then was a great experience.

Why do you coach?
I love coaching a sport my own dad introduced to me as he was Native American. Always fun helping and sharing a great sport to up and comers.

What is your best coaching moment?
My first coaching season in 2011 our team was new as was I. Getting our first win later that season was a great moment. We usually played with only ten players most games. So to see them battle and finally pay off was a very good feeling.

What characteristics do you look for in a player?
Desire, dedication and determination. My high school coaches called it the three Dā€™s. I also appreciate good discipline. Those qualities go a long way as and athlete and a person.

What do you do when your not coaching?
I love going for bike rides around San Diego as well taking in a good hockey game.

Favorite sports team?
Detroit Red Wings

What is your secret talent or something that the team would be surprised to know about you?
I love been known to ride my bike(beach cruiser) 100 miles in a day. All with no gears to shift.

COACH GRANT KROEGER

Where are you from?
Lake Geneva, Wisconsin

What age and where did you start playing lacrosse?
In New Jersey, Freshman year of high school

What is your best playing moment?
As a freshman, in my first varsity game, I transitioned the ball and got an assist. That's what got me hooked on the game!

Why do you coach?
I love the game and enjoy helping the kids develop as athletes and team players.

What is your best coaching moment?
There have been many amazing games in my career, but the best moments are when my players practice a move, a dodge, a play, etc...and then successfully show it off in the game.

What characteristics do you look for in a player?
Someone who is curious about the game, willing to put in effort and is respectful of others.

What do you do when your not coaching?
If I'm not coaching, I'm watching my kids sports games, teaching, designing and hanging out with my wife.

Favorite sports team?
ASU Women's Lacrosse

What is your secret talent or something that the team would be surprised to know about you?
I have surprising great "Parking Karma"

COACH BRIAN MCCOY

Where are you from?
New Providence, New Jersey

What age and where did you start playing lacrosse?
13 years old, 8th grade for the Chiefs lacrosse club

What is your best playing moment?
Scooping a ground ball, going coast-to-coast, and scoring a game winning goal with 5 seconds left in the Landmark Conference semifinals my senior year at Moravian College

Why do you coach?
Because I love the game. I love being able to share what I have learned from great coaches with players.

What is your best coaching moment?
Coaching at my alma mater in 2016, New Providence High School, with my good friend and former teammate, we had 10 kids earn spots at NCAA programs.

What characteristics do you look for in a player?
Hard-working and intellectually curious. I love when players challenge me and ask why, with a purpose.

What do you do when your not coaching?
I live in Ocean Beach with my girlfriend and 2 year old black lab. I work full-time at a Pharmaceutical Advertising agency in Banker's Hill. I play a lot of pickup basketball and lacrosse for the OMBAC team here in SD. I've been raising some plants lately too.

Favorite sports team?
New York Knicks :-(

What is your secret talent or something that the team would be surprised to know about you?
I have two webbed toes.
